Senior Infrastructure and

Government Liaison Officer

Purpose

This role serves as a key link between the kinder, its families, the Executive
Committee, and relevant government and council stakeholders. The position
supports the ongoing safety, quality, and development of the kinder’s
infrastructure by advocating for the kinder’s needs, fostering positive relationships,
facilitating effective communication, and representing the kinder’s interests in a
collaborative and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact between the kindergarten and government bodies, including Council, Councillors, and State Members of Parliament.

  • Advocate for the kindergarten’s interests, with delegated authority from the Executive Committee, particularly in relation to buildings, facilities, and play spaces.

  • Work with the Grants Officer to identify and support relevant State Government funding opportunities for infrastructure and facilities.

  • Coordinate and submit infrastructure maintenance and upgrade requests to Council, including follow‑ups as required.

  • Liaise with Council officers and stakeholders on matters relating to buildings, grounds, and play areas to support safe and high‑quality environments for children.

  • Support longer‑term planning for the kindergarten’s infrastructure, including future needs, risks, and priorities.

  • Communicate advocacy activities and infrastructure updates to families, and the wider community where appropriate.

  • Provide advice and practical insights to the Committee on infrastructure, funding, and advocacy matters.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build
    constructive relationships with a range of stakeholders.

  • Ability to represent the kinder professionally and confidently in formal and
    informal settings.

  • An organised, proactive, and detail-oriented approach to tasks and follow-
    up.

  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a team with the
    Grants Officer, Executive Committee, and broader kinder community.

  • Commitment to the values, safety, and wellbeing of the kinder and its families.

  • A sound understanding of the respective roles of State Government and
    Local Government in early years infrastructure and service delivery.

  • Political awareness and judgement, including the ability to navigate
    government processes, stakeholders, and sensitivities effectively and
    tactfully.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

This position requires a Volunteer Working with Children's Check (WWC) and will be subject to a National Police Criminal History Check prior to appointment.
