COVID-19 Update
At Hampton Community Kinder we have risk mitigation procedures that are updated in accordance with the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Health and Human Services. Below is an overview of some of the measures that are in place at Hampton Community Kinder.
Face Masks
Under the current Covid guidelines adults are strongly encouraged to wear face masks when coming inside the kindergarten – we have spare facemasks for your use next to the sign in sheet.
Visitors
One of our main risk mitigation measures that remains in place, is limiting the number of adults inside the Kinder building. Parents are requested where possible to drop off and collect their child from the front door, with a teacher waiting to greet them and support this process. We do however note that in some circumstances parents need to come into the locker room or classroom and this is now ok for brief periods in small numbers. But we ask that you please do wear a mask when coming into our building.
Absences
Parents are reminded to keep their child at home if they shown any sign of illness, no matter how mild the symptoms. If your child is unwell and/or you are choosing to keep them at home, we ask that you still call or email the educators to let them know. It is always important for us to know why child is away and if this is due to illness we need to be able to monitor this from a group perspective.
Hygiene
Current advice remains that maintaining good hygiene is of paramount importance in controlling the spread of infection. Teachers will help your child in washing their hands on arrival at Kinder and hand sanitizer is provided for all adults.
Our teachers conduct thorough cleaning throughout the session, and always have done as standard practice. In addition to our usual daily cleans, our cleaners carry out cleaning each evening including of high touch areas.
Advice from Department of Education and Training
Our Kindergarten follows the advice of the Department of Education and Training and will remain open unless instructed to close.
Advice for families can be found here.
Vaccinations
We strongly encourage our staff, volunteers and any other visiting bodies to have all of the required covid-19 vaccinations.
The New Normal
As our kindergarten returns to a level of ‘new’ normal we are excited to be able to invite families into kindergarten once more as parent helpers and for other events which will mostly be conducted outside. We have been lucky in term 3 to have no incidents of covid across our classes and we continue to maintain our high level of cleanliness, the use of our air purifiers and ventilation measures to keep our children safe.
There have been other illnesses doing the rounds so please ensure you continue to keep children with any symptoms at home until symptoms clear and keep using the covid tests – they are available for you to collect and are located outside our kinder door at drop off and pick up times.
Hampton Community Kinder has completed a COVID-Safe plan that is available for all staff to refer to.
